A couple of months ago we were approached by Matt Kotttenstette who wants to do events in our area utilizing local commercial kitchens (which we have in our Grange Hall) to preserve local foods. His mission is to involve local youth in local agriculture by hosting events to preserve food and get together for a fun gathering. Be sure to mark your calendars for August 24th for a "Potluck Pickling Party" and join us for his first event at the Grange. What could meet our mission better? The kitchen will be open to local growers and pickle patrons alike but for those who aren’t 'cooking minded', Matt will be painting a Pickle Ball court on our playground basketball court so bring your ball and paddle and play a couple games. If you're not familiar with the game, it’s similar to tennis but on a smaller court and should be fun as a spectator or player. The Hotchkiss Methodist Food Bank will benefit from the proceeds of this event and it is co-sponsored by the CSU Extension Office. For more information you can contact Matt at 970 310-1485.
As the Owner & Publisher at Over The Hill Media,LLC and a Grange supporter, I was drafted to make sure that Redlands Rumours have the i's dotted and the t's crossed AND that they contain at least some modicum of local fact. I'll do my best ;)
