Barry Willits - Overseer, Vice President
Barry and his wife of 49 years decided they would spend their retirement years in God's Country, i.e., Western Colorado. This decision was made after an extensive tour of candidate locations, which included the Hill Country of Tejas and Western CO, and a lengthy search for properties using Zillow, etc. They firmed up the decision, after visiting addresses and GPS locations that Barry included in his 'CO Property Database (he is a TX Aggie Engineer, ya' know!!).'
The downselect property is 14505 (& 14502) 2800 Rd, Hotchkiss: 70+ acres of ranchland, hay and pasture. It's been renamed 'Willits' Ranch LPoH' [acronym captured from the congratulatory email fm Morty Baran stating; "...welcome to your little piece of heaven..."].
Barry and Jean have beehives, where those little critters pollinate everything that needs pollonating, and operate a honey manufactuing plant. Barry is learning the beekeeping trade, and both are members of the Utah Beekeeper's Association. Barry has noted that the bees are social, and tend to their own business, until it's harvest time, when it becomes clesr that they do not agree with 'sharing.' Barry is raising two CO wild turkeys; Tom is "Homer" & the hen is "Skye," successfully hatched a nest of six eggs, after the hen was eaten by a local red fox. They were named by Jean & Barry's youngest granddaughter, Texas Lucy, as the six poults went on a road trip to League City, TX.
Barry & Jean travel extensively to visit their children & grandchildren in Plano and League City, TX, cruise ship tours, and international travel, e.g., Athens and the Greek Islands. Cruises to Honduras and New Zealand are on the agenda for 2022.
Barry was nominated and elected, and now serving as Gate Keeper of the Colorado State Grange.
Barry & Jean were born and raised in Kansas. After one year of college, Fort Hay KS State, Barry enlisted in the US Navy Nuclear Power Pgm. Barry Swore his solemn oath of enlistment at the KCMO Incuction Center, June 1972; that oath has no expirationdate. Duty stations included Staff Instructor at the Naval Reactor Facility at the INEL, and commissioning crew aboard the USS Virginia, CGN38. Following discharge Barry was hired to the faculty staff at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. He attained BSME and graduate school for a Master's degree, Nuclear Engineering.
